The bottle must therefore be labeled and handled differently. Here is a brief overview of the individual laws:<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n\n<h2 class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-medium-font-size wp-block-heading\"><strong>Therapeutic Products Act (SR 812.21)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size\">If an essential oil is touted for health or describes one of the following uses, the Medicines Act comes into force:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>For a specific indication such as cough, back pain, etc. <\/li><li>when taken internally<\/li><li>for inhalations <\/li><li>or external use with concentrations higher than 3% <\/li><\/ul>\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size\">It is now a drug or medical device. Are monitored by the Swissmedic market.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n\n<h2 class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-medium-font-size wp-block-heading\"><strong>Chemicals Act (SR 813.1 and SR 813.11)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>Most over-the-counter essential oils are subject to the Chemicals Act or the Chemicals Act. For this reason, the corresponding hazard symbols (= pictograms), the signal word (\u00abAttention\u00bb, \u00abDanger\u00bb) and the safety instructions (H and P phrases) are shown on the label. <\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:15% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"362\" height=\"182\" src=\"https:\/\/arthes.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Bildschirmfoto-2020-10-20-um-20.08.21.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4987 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/arthes.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Bildschirmfoto-2020-10-20-um-20.08.21.png 362w, https:\/\/arthes.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Bildschirmfoto-2020-10-20-um-20.08.21-300x151.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 362px) 100vw, 362px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"has-cyan-bluish-gray-color has-text-color has-normal-font-size\">Possible pictograms, which can be found on an essential oil label with the signal word, further hazard and safety instructions.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size\">These fragrances may only be used for room fragrancing, internal consumption is prohibited! <br\/>No advertising that corresponds to a remedy claim may be made.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size\">Furthermore: The Biocidal Product Ordinance (VBP) must be looked at as a biocidal product or as a repellant. These are subject to approval! If advertising is made, the sentences in Art. 50 of the VBP must be applied.<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n\n<h2 class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-medium-font-size wp-block-heading\"><strong>Cosmetics Act (VKos; SR 817.023.31)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size\">If an essential oil is used in a cosmetic product, the food and commodity law applies. An example of this would be a manufactured massage oil.<br\/><strong>It is important that the concentration of the essential oil in cosmetics must not exceed 3%. <\/strong>This would be, on average, 30 drops per 50ml carrier oil.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size\">Well-being praises are allowed, but not medical ones. Promises of healing are not allowed.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size\">Important note: Even with essential oils labeled \u201cfoodstuffs\u201d: Before you use essential oils internally in your food, attend a basic course at a reputable training and further education company. Knowing what to look out for and how to use them is important!<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n\n<h2 class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-medium-font-size wp-block-heading\"><strong>More information<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size\">In Switzerland, the cantonal guidelines must be taken into account, for example when it comes to disposal.
